Storm Bristow, OK, 2013

STORM was photographed in Bristow, Oklahoma in 2013. A boarded-up window foretells of an impending storm. It is 30 minutes west of Tulsa, which also has an historic place in this storied highway. Route 66 was championed by a Tulsa businessman, Cyrus Avery, who also eventually settled on its number—after a protracted political debate—because it was easy to remember. Route 66 was first signed into law in 1927 as one of the original highways in the United States but was not fully paved until 1938.
